"The work is titled Gabrielle and refers to the devastation inflicted on Piha in February 2023
which destroyed my home. The 6 panels each measuring 2 metres by 1 metre form
a single work which connects to the emotions encountered from the destruction caused
by that weather event. Read from left to right the panels speak to the destruction which
occurred overnight, the dawn of the next day and the realisation of the aftermath,
the clean-up, the bewilderment and ultimately the demolition of my home and
the permanent displacement from the community." - Sefton Rani
